Acoustic double glazing needs the addition of a secondary glazing layer offset from an existing window, optimally by 100mm. Soundblock offer two solutions to double glaze windows for noise and thermal insulation – Magnetic Acrylic Double Glazing and Acoustic Aluminium Double Glazing. Article body:

What is Window Double Glazing?
Double glazing requires the addition of a secondary glazing layer offset from an existing window optimally by 100mm. Retrofit our acoustic double glazing to your existing windows or specify our solutions on new projects. Double glazed windows reduce noise transfer by up to 70% and eliminate heating costs by 35%.

Double Glazing System – Magnetic Acrylic Windows
Magnetic Window Soundproofing System works very simply by adding a PVC sub frame on the inside of your window. This double glazing system greatly improves noise reduction. The acrylic window is sealed in place, creating an air space with the existing window, thereby producing an insulating barrier.

Double Glazing System – Acoustic Aluminium Windows
This double glazing system reduces the transfer of noise from outside to inside. These sound proof windows can be specially manufactured to meet specific size requirements. The Soundblock Aluminium Window System is an add on glazing system, creating a double glazed unit to greatly reduce noise transmission through existing windows by up to 70%. In Addition it provides extra safety and security to the property.

How to Soundproof Windows
To successfully soundproof your windows you need to have a sufficient distance between your primary window and the edge of your internal window reveal. Ideally this gap is 100mm. This will allow an acoustic secondary window, either our Soundblock Acrylic Magnetic or Soundblock Aluminium windows, to be installed to effectively provide an overall sound reduction of 40-43db.

Most heavy vehicle owners in the transport industry are asking themselves – How can I save money on my running costs? How can I save on fuel consumption? Will a truck wheel alignment help?

Research & studies conducted around the world show that around 80 percent of medium to heavy vehicles are incorrectly aligned, or have a mis-alignment. If your truck, trailer or bus has incorrectly aligned wheels & axles, you have what we call increased rolling resistance when travelling on the road. This means the engine is working harder than required to push the truck along the road, and the end result is an increase in fuel consumption. Given that fuel can account for up to 50% of the operating costs of a truck or fleet, smart operators must explore all avenues to reduce fuel consumption.
Generally speaking, correcting even slight alignment issues have been shown to result in a saving of 3 – 10 percent on fuel.

3% doesn’t sound too significant does it? Lets take a closer look – One truck runs Brisbane to Sydney (return) 3 times a week (6,000 kms). That’s 312,000 kms a year. Fuel consumption average is 1.85 litres/km. That’s 577,200 litres, current local prices are around $1.49 per litre. Fuel cost for the year – $860,028.00. If you reduced fuel consumption by 3%, you would save $25,800.84!!
Your scenario may be different, but you can see that small changes can make a big difference to the bottom line of your business. There are other areas where you can save on running costs, which will be covered in another article.

If you own one truck or one hundred, and you are not having a regular truck wheel alignment performed as part of your maintenance schedule, you really need to contact your local truck wheel alignment specialist for a chat.

Truckologist is a mobile truck wheel alignment business based in Brisbane, Australia.

When it comes to graphic design, and working with professional graphic designers Brisbane, one of the numerous techniques that are available to designers is the grid system. Not only does it give a basic structure and starting point for the design work and layout of a page, it is also a simple system that designers turn to, when they are creating content for any number of mediums, from online site design, to magazine layouts.

Content organisation -
The grid system used by Brisbane graphic designers is a method of laying out content, in order to organise that content in a systematic way. By using margins, lines, columns, rows, and grids, the system allows designers to properly lay graphic elements out on a page, and lay them out in the most precise manner. Depending on the detail of the site, the content that is being laid out, and the manner in which it is to be seen by the end viewer, one grid, or a combination of grids can be used through all the pages on a site, in order to keep a uniform style, and to lay out the information and content in a certain manner to the end viewer of the site. Once the end result is displayed on screen (or in a magazine, newspaper, etc), the grid lines are no longer seen, but you can still see the consistent pattern if you look through all content, on all pages.

Types of grids and uses -
When graphic designers Brisbane choose the grid layout for site content, there is really no limit as to how many grids can or should be used, how they should be laid out, or how they should be created. It is simply used as a guide, to help lay out content, and give the pages some uniformity throughout. There is a common layout when it comes to grids, and some of the modifications or additions that can be made include:
- Equally sized 2, 3, or 4 column grids, which have a header at the top of the page, and full page grid of squares.
- Varied line, border, and width columns can be created using this basic pattern.
- Changes of page sises which allow for unique page designs, and content layout.
Using the grid system is a great way to lay out any page; it is a simple way to see all the content that will be used on the page, and how it will look once you are finished. Using the grids also allows designers to see whether everything fits together on the pages, how it looks, and whether changes should be made, prior to actually adding content to the sites.

Break out of grids -
Graphic designers Brisbane use the grid as a premise for design, and content layout; but, once the grid is established, and all content has been laid out, it is up to different designers how they are going to, if they are going to, and at which points in the page they are going to break out of the grid. Simple because designers break out of the traditional “grid”, does not mean that the entire system is ignored by designers; as a matter of fact, they use the grid system in many aspects of design and page layout.

Instead of throwing out the grid system, designers may choose to cross over from one grid to the next on the page layout, they choose to extend certain elements to different areas on the grid, possibly extend page breaks to create continual content, and so forth. By breaking out of the grid, designers are able to create a unique layout, they are able to create distinct content, and they are able to design a page and content that is best suited for the client that they are creating that content for.

Like any other guide or premise, Logo design Brisbane use the traditional grid system as a starting point for laying out content. It creates uniformity on a page, allows them to see what looks best where, and eventually it allows them to create, modify, and recreate the grid, in order to design a truly unique site, and one that is the best possible layout for the client they are working with.
